Liver cancer, both primary as well as secondary when inoperable and still not widespread, falls under the domain of Interventional Radiology as many of them require different procedures to control them either for complete treatment, control, as an adjuvant or for palliation.

Smaller lesions can be treated by a variety of ablative procedures like radiofrequency, Microwave, cryo or IRE whereas larger lesions especially hepatocellular carcinomas and colonic metastasis, requires a variety of procedures like transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) – conventional / drug eluting beads (DEB – TACE), transarterial radio embolisation (TARE) or at times bland embolisation. Many times to reduce side effects, a combination of ablation with transarterial therapy is also offered nowadays.
